Charles Barkley has put his trust behind the Arizona Wildcats before, and he’s not necessarily wrong doing so for the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
Arizona is a 2-seed, and a darn good one with a 30-4 record and a half-decent case it could have been a No. 1.
Still, um, we’re not sure Sir Charles knows what he’s talking about.
After the entire NCAA Tournament bracket was revealed on Sunday afternoon, Barkley joined Ernie Johnson and Gary Parrish on set to analyze the field. They even gave their Final Four picks.
Barkley had Arizona and not No. 1 seed Gonzaga coming out of the West Region. Not weird at all — ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt and others join Barkley in believing the Wildcats have a solid chance at reaching coach Sean Miller’s first Final Four, and the path there seems reasonable with UA beginning the tournament Thursday against 15th-seed North Dakota.
But when Johnson asked Barkley to pick an overall winner, well, it seemed Chuck isn’t so sure of himself.
JOHNSON: “You got a champ? … I’ll take that as a ‘no.'”
PARRISH: “Pick one, Chuck!”
BARKLEY: “I got … Arizona.”
Before and after that rough exchange, the internet was skeptical about whether Barkley, who hasn’t helped his credibility criticizing NBA championship squads and MVPs, knows what he’s talking about.
Good luck to Charles Barkley on trying to learn stuff about college basketball over the next few hours! Thoughts and prayers.

Listening to Charles Barkley's CBB analysis is like listening to a middle schooler's report on a book they clearly haven't read
