The Arizona Coyotes will honor Craig Cunningham with a ceremonial pre-game puck drop before their game against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, April 8.
Cunningham was a member of the Tucson Roadrunners, the Coyotes’ AHL affiliate, when he collapsed on the ice before a game on Nov. 19.
It was determined Cunningham suffered a cardiac rhythm disturbance, and the lengths doctors went to to save his life were extensive. Unfortunately, not long after, Cunningham’s left leg needed to be amputated.
As noted in a press release, the Coyotes want to give fans an opportunity to congratulate Cunningham “on the tremendous courage, willpower and perseverance he’s demonstrated throughout his rehabilitation.”
Along with honoring Cunningham, as part of the evening the Coyotes will have many of their normal Fan Appreciation Night festivities, including numerous giveaways and the opportunity for 23 lucky fans to take part in a post-game on-ice ceremony in which they will be given game-worn jerseys.
