The Arizona Diamondbacks got another step closer to forming their Opening Day roster on Tuesday.
In a flurry of moves, the D-backs optioned infielder Ketel Marte to Triple-A Reno, placed outfielder Socrates Brito on the 60-day disabled list and selected the contracts of pitchers Tom Wilhemsen and Jorge De La Rosa.
Also, the Diamondbacks claimed infielder Christian Walker off of waivers from the Cincinnati Reds; to make room for him, the team designated pitcher Evan Marshall for assignment.
The 26-year-old Walker hit .264 with 18 home runs and 64 RBI in 131 games for Triple-A Norfolk last season.
Marshall appeared in 85 games with the D-backs from 2014 to 2016, posting a 4-7 record with a 4.50 ERA.
With the moves, the D-backs’ 40-man roster remains at 40.
