The Arizona Diamondbacks’ home ballpark has 48,633 seats available for fans, and the team says every single one has been sold for Opening Day Sunday against the San Francisco Giants.
Zack Greinke is scheduled to take the mound for the D-backs, with the first pitch set for 1:10 p.m.
Chase Field’s gates will open at 10:45 a.m. and the Opening Day ceremonies are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Former Suns forward and two-time NCAA champion Grant Hill will throw out the first pitch. Trent Harmon, reigning American Idol winner, will perform the national anthem, which will be followed by a military flyover.
The team has a variety of promotions set up to welcome the 2017 MLB season. The first 40,000 fans will receive a D-backs Giveback t-shirt. The shirt commemorates the $50 million milestone in charitable donations made by the team, a benchmark it reached on Wednesday’s Evening on the Diamond. Fans will also receive a schedule magnet.
The D-backs will play the division-rival Giants seven times in their first 10 games. Opening Day kicks off a four-game series with San Francisco, after which he D-backs host the Indians for a three-game series. Following the seven-game homestand, Arizona will travel for another series against the Giants.
