Playing alongside San Tan Ford’s Tim Hovik and PGA Pro Kevin Na, former University of Arizona defensive lineman Dave Wood hit an ace on No. 16 at TPC Scottsdale in Wednesday’s pro-am tournament.
Wood, who played two seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, placed his shot about 10 yards from the pin and, a couple of low bounces later, drew the loudest cheers of the day when his ball found the hole. His group let loose in the looser-still atmosphere on the course, jumping wildly and celebrating loudly.
Wood’s sons, Carter and Trevor, play football for their dad’s alma mater in Tucson.
