ASU basketball to reportedly play Vanderbilt in home-and-home series

ASU basketball will reportedly play a home-and-home series with Vanderbilt starting this season on December 17th, according to Scout.com’s Evan Daniels.
Arizona State and Vanderbilt will begin a home and home series this season, per a source. Starts at ASU. Game set for December 17th.

The Sun Devils last played Vanderbilt in 2004 at a neutral site, Valley High School in Las Vegas, Nev. ASU men’s basketball, which is fresh off a 15-18 (7-11 Pac-12) season, is 3-0 in the all-time series against Vanderbilt. Aside from the ’04 contest, they also played two other times at Wells Fargo Arena in 1981 and 1994.
Vanderbilt, meanwhile, went 19-16 (10-8 SEC) and became the ninth seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament this year. The Commodores lost to Northwestern in the first round.
It will be the first time ASU head coach Bobby Hurley and Vanderbilt head coach Bryce Drew will face each other. Coincidentally, Drew’s NBA career began with the Houston Rockets the year after Hurley played his final NBA season with the Vancouver Grizzlies.
Two of the three leading scorers for Vanderbilt last season still have NCAA eligibility, and will thus presumably return. Matthew Fisher-Davis (13.9) and Jeff Roberson (10.8 PPG) were both juniors last season, while Luke Kornet (13.2) is graduating.
