Shareef O’Neal, son of NBA legend, commits to Arizona

The University of Arizona men’s basketball program picked up another high-profile recruit Wednesday when Shareef O’Neal committed to play for head coach Sean Miller in 2018.

O’Neal is a 6-foot-8, 205-pound power forward out of Crossroads School in Santa Monica, Calif. He has a five-star rating with an overall grade of 91 from ESPN and is considered the 19th-best recruit in the nation by the website.
According to Maxpreps.com, O’Neal averaged 14.1 points and 7.3 rebounds in 20 games during his recently-completed junior season for Crossroads, who went 20-12.
He chose Arizona over offers from Baylor, California, Georgetown, UCLA, USC and LSU, his father’s alma mater.
The younger O’Neal is currently playing with California Supreme, an AAU team that also has DeAndre Ayton on the roster. Ayton, ESPN’s second-ranked recruit in the class of 2017, has also committed to Arizona.
