Freshman center Jethro Tshisumpa may be transferring, but the Arizona State Sun Devils will now be able to replace him with another promising, young player, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.

If everything goes well, Edwards should be eligible to play for the Sun Devils for the 2018-19 season. This is good timing for the Devils, as starting guards Shannon Evans, Tra Holder and Kodi Justice will all be seniors next season.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard chose ASU over Pitt after deciding to transfer following a coaching change at Cleveland State.

The 20-year-old led the Vikings in points during both of his seasons there, averaging 16.5 last year after scoring 12.4 per game as a freshman. He also collected 4.5 rebounds per game last season and made two three-pointers per contest on a 35.4 percent clip from deep.

Edwards garnered some interest last season when he scored 28 points against the Kentucky Wildcats – who finished fifth in the final Coaches Poll – on 12-of-21 shooting from the floor. The Vikings still lost 101-70, however.

He was named second-team all-Horizon League for his performance last year.

He was the No. 8-ranked player in Michigan during his senior year of high school and made the Horizon League All-Freshman team in his first year at Cleveland State.

ASU is also looking to potentially add Duke transfer Chase Jeter to the team.
