San Diego State junior transfer and Phoenix native Zylan Cheatham is coming to Arizona State basketball, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

The 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward went to South Mountain High School in Phoenix and reportedly received a scholarship offer from Arizona State when he was first recruited out of high school. Now, with two years of college experience under his belt in the Mountain West conference, he’ll head to the Pac-12 in his hometown.

Last season, Cheatham averaged 23.4 minutes, 9.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 31 games with the Aztecs.

ASU head coach Bobby Hurley already lost Jethro Tshisumpa and Andre Adams, but on the flip side, they’ve added Cleveland State guard Rob Edwards and, now, the SDSU transfer.

He’ll likely have to sit out a year, but the reported addition of Cheatham’s height will compliment big forwards like Mickey Mitchell, Vitaliy Shibel, Romello White and Roman Vila, helping to replace the loss of senior Obinna Oleka.
