Cardinals vice president of player personnel Terry McDonough doesn’t appear anxious to earn a promotion and leave Arizona. At least, not for any jobs that are vacant at the moment.
McDonough, who reports to Cardinals general manager Steve Keim, told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco that he has agreed to a four-year extension with Arizona when asked if he was a candidate for any front-office openings.
The report likely means McDonough isn’t among the candidates to fill Doug Whaley’s shoes in Buffalo after the Bills’ GM was fired over the weekend. It also indicates the Cardinals’ front office has retained one of its leaders for the time being.
McDonough is considered the most sought-after member of Arizona’s football personnel staff. He was among three candidates to become the San Francisco 49ers general manager, but the Niners instead hired former safety John Lynch.
