Sports Illustrated trolls Mets’ Harvey with ‘Ferris Bueller’ video

New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey was recently suspended by his own team for failing to show up to a game. So Sports Illustrated played him on Twitter.

Reports recently surfaced that the 28-year-old former All-Star failed to show up for the Mets’ game on Saturday against the Marlins. He had reportedly failed to notify team staff, other than texting pitching coach Dan Warthen that he had a headache. So, the Mets punished him for his “day off.”

And that’s where S.I. jumped in.

Their social media folks put together a video depicting Harvey’s face imposed over that of Ferris Bueller, the school-skipping senior who enjoyed a wild day of playing hooky in Chicago in the classic film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

In that movie, Bueller runs home to get back in bed — where his parents think he’s resting with an illness — before his dad gets home. He arrives on his doorstep in time, only to find Principal Rooney trying to thwart his day of fun.

But here, it’s Harvey who’s racing through a Chicago suburb. At the end, when Harvey can’t find his house key, he’s met not by Rooney, but his real-life “principal”…
