Diamondbacks bench coach Ron Gardenhire made his return to the dugout Monday for the series-opener against the New York Mets after missing the last 32 games following surgery to combat prostate cancer.
Gardenhire, who left the team after its April 9 game, underwent surgery to remove his prostate on April 18 after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February.
Jerry Narron replaced Gardenhire as the bench coach and will remain with the D-backs as a pregame coach while Gardenhire transitions back into everyday work, the team said.
