The Arizona Wildcats’ already-impressive 2017 recruiting class received a bump from an unlikely source, as Emmanuel Akot, who had committed to the team as part of the class of 2018, decided to reclassify to the 2017 class.

Akot committed to Arizona on March 9, choosing the Wildcats over offers from Louisville, Oregon and Utah. A 6-foot-6 forward, he is a five-star prospect who is known for his length, athleticism and motor. He is also an improving shooter.

Akot joins a recruiting class that features fellow five-star DeAndre Ayton as well as four-star players in Brandon Randolph, Ira Lee and Alex Barcello.
They will all join a roster that includes sophomore Rawle Alkins, who decided to return to school rather than enter the NBA Draft, along with junior Allonzo Trier, seniors Dusan Ristic and Parker Jackson-Cartwright and senior Keanu Pinder. Dylan Smith, a transfer from UNC Asheville, will also be eligible to play after he sat out the 2016-17 season.
