Jake Plummer and two other former Sun Devils on the CFB Hall of Fame Ballot

Jun 1, 2017, 12:59 PM | Updated: 2:22 pm

Two former ASU players, Jake Plummer and David Fulcher, along with coach Darryl Rodgers, have been named to the 2016 College Football Hall of Fame ballot.

Plummer (1993-96) was named the 1996 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year and quarterbacked ASU to the 1997 Rose Bowl against Ohio St. He stands as the Devils’ career leader in passing touchdowns (65), pass completions (632), and passing yards (8,827)

Fulcher (1983-85) was a two-time consensus All-American and three-time All-Pac-10 selection who recorded 286 total tackles, including 110 in 1983, along with 14 career interceptions.

At ASU, Rodgers (1980-84) led the Sun Devils to a Fiesta Bowl win in 1982 against Oklahoma and finished his tenure in Tempe with a 37-18-1 record.

Plummer, Fulcher and Rodgers could join 10 other ASU alumni already in the Hall of Fame, including Danny White and Pat Tillman.

The three former Devils join a list of 75 former players and six coaches from the FBS to make the ballot.

To even get nominated for the ballot, a player must be out of college football for 10 seasons and must have been a First-Team All-America selection. A coach must be out of the game for three years, or if they are 75-years old, have at least a .600 winning percentage, and have coached for a minimum of 10 years and 100 games.

The Hall will make its announcement about the 2018 class before the National Championship game on Jan. 8.
