Bless you, J.R. Smith.

Within half an hour of the Golden State Warriors rallying to stifle whatever hopes the Cleveland Cavaliers retained after a Game 3 NBA Finals loss, the Cavs shooting guard went to Twitter with a bountiful supply of confidence.

Forget coming back from a 3-1 lead. Smith said the Cavaliers would recover from a 3-0 deficit.

That’s a bit optimistic, you might say.

Smith deleted the tweet 10 minutes after letting it out, but it’d already blown up to nearly 22,000 retweets (at our best estimate).

He apparently was hacked — but isn’t that what they all say?

The thing is, Smith has a point. If Cleveland wins Game 4 at home, then it’ll be a 3-1 lead for the Warriors. The Cavs came back from such a deficit last year. We’re going to go ahead and call the next one a must-win.

Anyway, here is how Twitter users reacted to J.R.’s bold prediction that he later rescinded.
