Arizona will host another championship.

The NCAA Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships will be hosted by ASU at Scottsdale’s Grayhawk Golf Club from 2020-22.

The championship span will be the first time a university and course will host the championships for three consecutive years.

The par-72 Raptor course hosted the PGA Tour’s Frys.com Open from 2007-2009 and was named among Golf Magazine’s “Best Public Golf Courses in Arizona.”

“We are fortunate to live in one of the most prestigious golf destinations in the country, so what better place to host the NCAA Golf Championships than Scottsdale, Arizona, which annually hosts one of the largest tournaments on the PGA tour,” said Vice President for Sun Devil Athletics Ray Anderson. “We are thrilled for the opportunity to host the nation’s elite in our own backyard for three consecutive years, and we intend to illustrate why Arizona is the perfect place for the NCAA Golf Championships.”

The Sun Devils took home this year’s Women’s Championship behind Pac-12 Coach of the Year Missy Farr-Kaye.

The ASU men qualified for the NCAA Championships last season and will bring in 2017 U.S Open qualifier Mason Anderson.

ASU Men’s coach Matt Thurmond is excited to see the commitment and resources the athletics department is putting into the golf program

“Our state takes incredible pride in its golf history and tradition and this will be an amazing addition to the local sports calendar,” Thurmond said. “The NCAA Championships has become one of the premier golf tournaments and I’m beyond thrilled that it will be held here in the desert. I’m confident hosting it here will take the championships to yet another level of success and prestige. I can’t wait until 2020.”

The 2020 NCAA Golf Championship will mark the first time Arizona hosted the event since the Women’s was hosted at ASU Karsten in 1992 and the Men’s was hosted at Tucson National in 1972.
