The Arizona Diamondbacks made three roster moves Friday which included calling up pitcher Rubby De La Rosa from Triple-A Reno.

The Diamondbacks also placed right-handed pitcher J.J. Hoover on the 10-day disabled list and designated catcher Oscar Hernandez for assignment.

De La Rosa, now in this third year with Arizona, has made 42 starts in the past two seasons before starting the season in Reno.

The 28-year-old will be taking the place of relief pitcher Hoover, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. He was not on the 40-man roster, so to make room for De La Rosa, the team designated catcher Hernandez for assignment.

In mid-September last year, De La Rosa was shut down for the season after pitching in just 13 games due to elbow soreness. The team had discussed the possibility of De La Rosa coming out of the bullpen in 2017.

In January, he was signed to a minor league contract.

In 14 games at Triple-A, De La Rosa has a 2.35 ERA in 15.1 innings this season with 23 strikeouts.
