D-backs recall RHP Braden Shipley after optioning Silvino Bracho

Right-hander Braden Shipley was recalled by the Diamondbacks to add length out of the bullpen behind starting pitcher Taijuan Walker on Tuesday.
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo confirmed on the Burns and Gambo show on 98.7 FM, Arizona Sports Station’s that Shipley, who has made two starts with the D-backs this year, would come out of the bullpen.
Walker is two starts into his return from an index finger blister that kept him out of action for nearly a month. He needed 99 pitches to go six innings his last time out, which ended as a 16-5 Arizona win over Colorado.
Shipley went four innings on May 4, allowing three earned runs against the Washington Nationals before on June 4 pitching five frames while allowing four earned runs against the Miami Marlins.
He is 5-3 with a 4.58 ERA with Triple-A Reno.
The move follows Arizona optioning reliever Silvino Bracho on Monday night.
In an unrelated roster shuffle Tuesday, the D-backs outrighted catcher Oscar Hernandez to Double-A Jackson after he was designated for assignment on June 23.
