The Arizona Diamondbacks have been doing more than fine of late, even with key players out with injury.
The role players have stepped up, and the team hasn’t taken a step back since losing Yasmany Tomas and A.J. Pollock to the disabled list. Imagine what the team would look like with both of those guys back.
It’s a step closer to happening, with the Diamondbacks announcing that Tomas will begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday night.
Tomas was placed on the 10-day DL on June 6 with right groin tendinitis.
The 26-year-old will play left field for the Rookie AZL D-backs against the Angels’ affiliate team.
Before the injury, Tomas had played 47 games for the big league club this season, where he was hitting .241 with eight home runs and 32 RBI.
Pollock on the other hand, was placed on the 10-day DL with a sprained right groin on May 15. He left his second game of a rehab assignment with right quad tightness on June 19, but returned to the Triple-A Reno Aces on Sunday.
Pollock has played 37 games for the Diamondbacks this year, batting .299 with two home runs and 11 RBI.
