Devin Booker mentions #TheTimeline on podcast, ‘all-in’ on young core

What started as a simple tweet from a Phoenix Suns fan is quickly emerging into a movement to encourage patience.

#TheTimeline is becoming the signature label for Phoenix fans to reflect the team’s current state.

The Suns have a very young roster that isn’t ready to compete now but should be able to down a theoretical timeline if those promising prospects meet their potential. To better aid this, the long-term signing of veterans are looked down upon and the importance of letting players like Marquese Chriss, Dragan Bender and Josh Jackson develop is emphasized.

The leader of that group is Devin Booker, who has quickly gone from a late lottery pick to the face of the franchise and becoming a much more recognizable star outside of Arizona.

The 20-year-old joined Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck on his The Full 48 podcast and when asked about what the team needs, Booker’s answer reflected the principles of #TheTimeline.

 Just more experience. I’m all-in with our young core. I wouldn’t trade it for anybody else. Like you said, some teams are getting acquisitions, like Jimmy Butler and stuff but, the west is still going to be tough. Each and every night you’re going to have to come bring it and I feel like this group has that. We have that drive. It might be, they’re calling it The Timeline right now in Phoenix, but you just have to keep working and get better each and every day.

The Suns’ offseason to this point also reflects this mentality.

The team has re-signed Alan Williams and added Mike James as a potential third point guard but outside of that has yet to make a move of any real significance.

Perhaps the Suns are ready to let the young core dictate where the team goes next season, and from the looks of how #TheTimeline has taken over social media in the past few weeks, it’s a move that will excite many of their fans.
