To make roster space for recently-acquired outfielder J.D. Martinez, the Arizona Diamondbacks placed outfielder Rey Fuentes on the 10-day disabled list with a left thumb contusion.
The D-backs will debut Martinez in their lineup Wednesday, a day after they acquired him from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for three prospects.
Martinez will bat fifth in the order and behind Paul Goldschmidt against the Cincinnati Reds.
