Dodgers prospect hits home run off D-backs minor-leaguer’s head

This is unfortunate.

The Oklahoma City Dodgers hosted the Reno Aces when one Diamondbacks minor league player found himself at the end of an unfortunately misplay.

Well, maybe he was more in the middle of it, because the play ended with a ball hit by Alex Verdugo landing on the other side of the outfield fence.

Verdugo is the Los Angeles Dodgers’ second-ranked prospect, per MLB.com. His hit should have been a catch for Zach Borenstein in right field, but it appears the Aces’ outfielder lost track of the ball midflight. It bounced off his head, then over the wall for a three-run home run.

According to Yahoo Sports!’ Jeff Passan, the hit registered as 385 feet. About 25 of those, he suggests, came after the ball connected with Borenstein’s skull.

If that was a bad day for Borenstein, at least his team got the 9-7 win.
