PHOENIX — Monique Currie scored 20 points, hitting four 3-pointers, to help the Phoenix Mercury beat the San Antonio Stars 81-64 on Sunday.

Diana Taurasi added 13 points while Danielle Robinson had 10 for Phoenix (13-10).

Currie hit a 3-pointer and converted a three-point play during an 18-4 run that made it 22-8 with a minute left in the first quarter and the Mercury led the rest of the way. Isabelle Harrison’s layup with pulled San Antonio within two points late in the second quarter but Robinson and Currie scored six points apiece as Phoenix scored 19 of the next 23 points to make it 54-37 with 2:59 left in the third. The Stars trailed by double figures throughout the fourth quarter.

Shay Murphy scored a season-high 14 points to lead San Antonio (3-21) and Harrison had 10 points and a career-best 13 rebounds.

The Stars were missing Moriah Jefferson, who sat out to rest a sore knee.
