Cardinals rookie running back and return man T.J. Logan left the Thursday preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys with a wrist injury. NBC sideline reporter Michele Tafoya said Logan was undergoing x-rays in the locker room during the second half of the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.

Logan, the Cardinals’ fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, was in the running to see immediate playing time as a return man.

Arizona head coach Bruce Arians confirmed to Paul Calvisi of 98.7 FM, Arizona’s Sports Station after the 20-18 loss to Dallas that Logan suffered a wrist injury but he did not know the severity.

“He’s a dynamic guy. That’s why we drafted him,” Arians told Calvisi after the game. “He loves running kickoffs back, he did a great job with the punts, he’s fearless — and he’s a running back, so it’s not like a receiver running with the ball.”

He recorded two kick returns for an average of 35.5 yards and had a 10-yard punt return in the first preseason game.

Logan also entered the game as a running back in the second half, taking four carries for 24 yards (6.0 yards per carry). Sixteen of those yards came on one bruising run, when he found a seam and then finished the run with a lowered shoulder.

“T.J. was very electric,” Arians told Calvisi. “Knock on wood that injury isn’t serious. It’s a wrist. We don’t know how severe it is.”
