Arizona State gets to stay home to prepare for their first two opponents to start the season.
The Sun Devils have a Week 1 matchup against New Mexico State and a Week 2 contest against San Diego State.
It turns out ASU might need to throw some unusual preparations into the gameplan against the Aztecs.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that San Diego State is dealing with a chickenpox outbreak.
They reported that three different players have already been diagnosed with the illness and head coach Rocky Long is concerned it’s going to hit more in the locker room.
The three players with chickenpox are offensive lineman Ryan Pope and linebackers Tyler Morris and Temerick Harper. Pope is a starter, while the two linebackers are both back-ups who play special teams as well, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Long said that trainers think it’s an isolated case, but it will become clear in the next three-to-five days.
ASU plays San Diego State on Saturday, Sept. 9, in Tempe.
