The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated left-handed pitcher Robbie Ray from the 10-day disabled list Thursday morning and have optioned right-handed pitcher Matt Koch to Triple-A Reno.

Ray last pitched for the D-backs July 28, but left the game in the second inning after being struck in the head by a line drive off the bat of Luke Voit.

Ray threw a simulated game, which consisted of 50 pitches, on Aug. 12. He also made one rehabilitation start in the minor leagues, throwing 4.2 innings for the Class-A Visalia Rawhide of the California League on Aug. 17. He struck out 11 while allowing four hits and two earned runs while taking the loss.

Before the injury, Ray had posted a 9-5 record with a 3.11 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 118.2 innings. The 25-year-old had struck out 151 batters while walking 58. In July, he represented Arizona in the 2017 All-Star Game in Miami, but didn’t see action in the American League’s 2-1 win.

Koch, 26, pitched in one game for the Diamondbacks after being recalled from Reno on Aug. 21. He failed to record an out and gave up three runs in the ninth inning of a 7-4 win over the Mets on Tuesday. He has a 2-2 record with an 8.80 ERA in 45 minor league innings this season.
