It was a record-setting Monday night for Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Robbie Ray when he dismantled the Los Angeles Dodgers, striking out 14.

His night started with back-to-back strikeouts and ended with the most strikeouts by a D-backs’ pitcher since Randy Johnson’s 15 in 2004.

“I stuck to my gameplan,” Ray said. “Me and Herm (Chris Herrmann) were on the same page all night.”

According to Elias Stats, he is the first pitcher in Major League history with four games of ten or more strikeouts in a season against the Dodgers.

“I knew I was throwing the ball really well, actually I didn’t even know how many strikeouts I had tonight, but anytime you can keep this lineup in check it’s pretty special.”

With Ray’s stellar night, the D-backs have now won 11 straight, including four-straight wins against the Dodgers.

“This team’s coming together, we are swinging the bat really well,” he said.

Ray has now won three straight, only giving up two earned runs and striking out 19.
