Good news, bad news for the Arizona Cardinals defense in Week 2.

The good is defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche will make his season debut. The bad: it will be another week, at least, before the same can be said about dollar linebacker Deone Bucannon.

Considered doubtful to play against the Indianapolis Colts, Bucannon won’t play Sunday because of an ankle injury.

“He would be limited (if he plays),” head coach Bruce Arians said following Friday’s practice. “I’m going to be careful with that one.”

Nkemdiche, meanwhile, will be in uniform after missing the opener with a calf issue.

Also good to go is tight end Troy Niklas, who dealt with a hip injury this week. He joins Ifeanyi Momah and recently signed Jim Dray as healthy tight ends. Jermaine Gresham won’t play. He missed practice all week due to sore ribs.

The remaining inactives are wide receiver John Brown, running back D.J. Foster, quarterback Blaine Gabbert, left tackle D.J. Humphries and left guard Mike Iupati.

Brown (quadriceps), Humphries (knee) and Iupati (tricep) had already been ruled out, and they did not make the trip.

John Wetzel and newcomer Alex Boone will start at left tackle and left guard, respectively.

“I don’t feel great about it, but those guys have played a lot of football,” Arians said. “Wetzel, I’ve seen Wetzel play better football than he played last week so with a week’s work he should play better this week, and he’s got a great challenge over there in Jabaal Sheard.”

For the Colts, seven players are out due to injury: safety Darius Butler (hamstring), cornerback Vontae Davis (groin), center Ryan Kelly (foot), quarterback Andrew Luck (right shoulder), wide receiver Chester Rogers (hamstring) plus linebackers Antonio Morrison (elbow) and Anthony Walker (hamstring).
