David Johnson tweets post-surgery support of Cardinals

Before his Arizona Cardinals kicked off their Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, running back David Johnson issued a positive message after undergoing surgery to repair a dislocated wrist.

The third-year pro injured his wrist in a Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions and will be out until at least November and possibly into December, head coach Bruce Arians said.

Arizona’s game at Indianapolis will provide the first bit of insight into how the team will reshape its identity without the versatile receiver, who last year accounted for 1,239 yards on the ground and another 879 receiving.

Kerwynn Williams, who is listed as the starter, is expected to split snaps with third-down option Andre Ellington, the bigger Elijhaa Penny and potentially veteran Chris Johnson.

The elder Johnson appears ready to go. He was released at the 53-man roster cut-down only to be re-signed following David Johnson’s injury.
