The Arizona Cardinals announced Tuesday the release of tight end Jim Dray, who was in his second stint with the organization after signing last Friday.

Dray’s signing last week came as the Cardinals’ tight end position saw injuries to Jermaine Gresham (ribs) and Troy Niklas (hip). Niklas did eventually play in Arizona’s Week 2 overtime win at the Indianapolis Colts.

Dray, meanwhile, appeared in five plays in Week 2, all on special teams.

The 30-year-old Dray played for the Cardinals from 2010-13 before spending 2014-15 with the Cleveland Browns. Dray was the Cardinals’ seventh-round pick (233rd overall) in 2010 out of Stanford.
