The Phoenix Suns have signed forward T.J. Warren to a four-year, $50 million extension, the team announced on Tuesday.
Warren would have been a restricted free agent in the summer of 2018.
Entering year four of his career, Warren has yet to have a full 82-game season. After battling to get into the rotation in his rookie season, Warren played well in year two before having season-ending foot surgery.
Warren was terrific to start last season, averaging 20 points per game and shooting 47.4 percent in the first 11 games. He would then go on to miss 13 games because of a minor head injury.
Warren’s extension shows a commitment to the player despite the team drafting small forward Josh Jackson fourth overall in this year’s NBA Draft.
The 24-year-old was drafted at No. 14 by the Suns in 2014.
