The 12th overall pick in 2017, Watson threw for 1,699 yards and completed 61.8 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions through half the NFL season. He was a favorite to win the NFL Rookie of the Year award.
Now, Houston will turn to backup Tom Savage this week. He started the season opener but was benched for Watson by halftime.
Additionally, the Texans will sign backup quarterback Matt McGloin, reports Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. McGloin played for Houston coach Bill O’Brien at Penn State.
