The Cardinals and 49ers were seeing a whole lot of yellow.
With 3:29 to play in the game and Arizona holding a 20-10 lead that would stand for the final score, San Francisco quarterback C.J. Beathard slid to the turf after taking off, and Cardinals safety Antoine Bethea lowered his shoulder into the rookie’s head, leading to a flag.
Suddenly, the emotions spilled over.
A few 49ers shoved Bethea after the hit, and seeing that, several Arizona players headed into the shoving match to defend their teammate. Out came a few more flags and even a referee’s hat that was tossed when all the flags had been utilized.
The result after the scuffle: Cardinals Haason Reddick and Frostee Rucker were ejected for their involvement, as was Niners running back Carlos Hyde.
After-the-whistle kerfuffles were not reserved to Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints got into a squabble during Week 9 play, as did the Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars.
