The Arizona Cardinals signed three to their practice squad, released two more and added one player to the injured reserve list on Thursday.
Among the moves, the team released Arizona State quarterback product Mike Bercovici, who was signed off the San Diego Chargers practice squad on Oct. 23 after starting quarterback Carson Palmer broke his arm.
Now, the Cardinals have three quarterbacks on the active roster: starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert, backup Drew Stanton and third-string quarterback Matt Barkley. Barkley was signed in mid-November after Stanton sprained his knee in a Week 10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
On Thursday, Arizona also released tackle Storm Norton and placed tight end Anthony Denham Jr. on the practice squad injured reserve list with a knee issue.
Those three moves made way for the team to sign tight end Gabe Holmes, safety Harlan Miller and offensive lineman Vinston Painter to the practice squad.
Arizona retained Miller and Painter after waiving them earlier this week.
Miller appeared in Sunday’s game against the Jaguars and also was a healthy scratch in another game this season. Painter played a special teams role in three games this year.
Holmes played on the Seahawks’ and Baltimore Ravens’ practices squads this season after entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders in 2015. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Purdue product was on the injured reserve all last season and remained with Oakland until it released him on Sept. 2 this year.
