Between the Ropes: Pacquiao-Rios fight confirmed

Top Rank Boxing’s Bob Arum confirmed Monday that Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao will be facing Brandon Rios on November 24, 2013 in Macau, China.
Pacquiao is coming off his brutal knockout loss last November to Juan Manuel Marquez. Marquez has said he has no desire to face Pacquiao again. Rios, from Oxnard, California, fought Mike Alvarado in March in a highly-anticipated rematch that ended with Alvarado winning the WBO Light Welterweight title via unanimous decision.
This is the second show in 2013 that Top Rank Boxing will host in Macau. It’s first event, the sold-out “Fists of Gold,” presented at the Cotai Arena at the Venetian in Macau, featured the debut of highly-touted Chinese Olympian Zou Shiming.
In addition to the 15,000 fight fans present at the event, an estimated 200-300 million viewers watched the free card on television. Arum has indicated he hopes to continue to bring boxing to China. The November bout will also be presented at the Venetian Macau’s Cotai Arena.
