A flyweight title fight has officially been added to Legacy FC 31.
On Monday, MMAFighting announced the highly-touted Henry Cejudo would square off against UFC veteran Damacio Page for the vacant 125-pound championship at the Houston Arena Theatre in Houston, Texas, on June 13.
Cejudo (6-0), a 2008 U.S. Olympic gold medalist, became the youngest wrestler in U.S. history to come out on top of the Olympic games when he defeated Japan’s Tomohiro Matsunaga in Beijing at just 21 years old. Since retiring from amateur wrestling in 2012, the former two-time Arizona state wrestling champion out of Maryvale High School has emerged as one of the most promising prospects in all of mixed martial arts.
Despite missing weight in his last two bouts at flyweight under the Legacy FC banner, Cejudo secured a pair of unanimous decision victories over Elias Garcia and Ryan Hollis via unanimous decision in his first two bouts with the organization.
Page (17-9) was released from the UFC after posting a record of 0-3 inside the octagon back in 2012. Since then he has gone 2-1, with both wins coming under the Legacy FC banner by way of knockout. This will mark the New Mexico native’s flyweight debut as he has spent the majority of his career competing as a bantamweight.
Cejudo vs. Page will serve as the night’s main event, with a middleweight championship bout between Bubba Bush and Roger Narvarez scheduled for the co-main event.
