Arizona Rattlers stay atop Coaches Poll after latest win

May 8, 2014, 6:44 PM | Updated: 6:44 pm

The Arizona Rattlers, one of only two undefeated teams in Arena Football League, remained No. 1 in the latest AFL Coaches Poll announced Thursday.

The Rattlers’ latest win, a 70-61 decision, in Jacksonville (2-5), moved their record to 7-0 and helped keep them atop the poll. They received 13 first-place votes, while the Cleveland Gladiators (6-0) were the only other team to get first-place consideration (1 vote).

The seven wins to start the season is a franchise record. The two-time defending champions have a chance to improve that record as they go on the road to face the Portland Thunder on Sunday at 5 p.m., marking the first time the two clubs have met. The expansion Thunder are 2-5 and placed 10th in the latest Coaches Poll.
