With left tackle Jared Veldheer on his way to injured reserve and guard Earl Watford dealing with a high ankle sprain, the Arizona Cardinals elevated offensive lineman Vinston Painter to the active roster for the second time this season.

The team also announced it had released wide receiver Carlton Agudosi and long snapper Justin Drescher. The latter is a sign that long snapper Aaron Brewer could be ready to come off the IR.

Painter, who has appeared in three games as a special teams player, was elevated to the active roster before a Week 11 game against the Houston Texans and now adds depth to an injury-ravaged offensive line.

Barring any signings this week, rookie Will Holden is expected to take over as starting left tackle — the team’s fourth this season — and Evan Boehm will step in at the right guard spot vacated by Watford.

Painter, a 6-foot-4, 318-pound sixth-round pick in 2013, has played for the Broncos, Browns, Giants, Dolphins and Redskins.

Agudosi, 23, was an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers and has not recorded a catch.

Drescher was signed on Oct. 10 after Brewer broke his wrist.
