Doug’s NFL Power Poll – Week 10

Nov 12, 2009, 1:48 AM | Updated: Jan 12, 2011, 7:40 pm

There is a big game in the AFC North on Sunday when the Bengals and Steelers hook up. The up and down Cardinals have almost found themselves in the top 10 of Doug’s Power Poll. A win over the NFC West Seahawks would probably make that happen.

1. SAINTS: Only one 1st round WR drafted has more TD’s rec than Darren Sharper — of course Sharper’s a CB with 7 INT’s…shouldn’t count @STL and @TB as real road wins
2. COLTS: They have Manning and the defense is best in pts allowed—unfair…very tough stretch vNE, @BAL, @HOU
3. VIKINGS: Favre’s been sacked 18 times while MIN has 31 sacks—only IND has better than +13 ratio…@AZ only road game till 12/20
4. BENGALS: Palmer’s been good but not great—comp % and TD’s needs to go up while the INT’s need to stop…the Chris Henry broken arm really hurts
5. PATRIOTS: Still lurking in third in points scoring and 2nd in points against…@IND now and @NO after Thanksgiving
6. STEELERS: Giving up 23 sacks is just too much…I think CIN is a better team
7. COWBOYS: 27 rushes per game is a good number but when you’re averaging 5.1y/r, I’d still run more…will finish with at least 10 wins
8. FALCONS: Three Jekyll and Hyde teams in next four games could determine playoffs–@CAR, @NYG, vTB & vPHI…call him Matty Ice all you want but the QB rating is in free fall
9. BRONCOS: Must win @WSH because SD has a tough game—and because SD gets WSH the last week of the year so it’s a free win…offense has dropped to 22nd in scoring
10. RAVENS: With vIND & vPIT, they better enjoy @CLE…18th in the NFL in sacks—tied with OAK & BUF (that’s bad)
11. CARDINALS: Shocking that Warner is 4th in INT’s…-6 in TO’s and only converting 35% 3rd downs so they’re not elite
12. TEXANS: This team is staring 10-6 in the face but it might not be enough…amazing to be above .500 while giving up 1.3 more yards per rush than they’re getting
13. CHARGERS: Still 5 toss-ups and only 3 gimmies…you have LT and Sproles but you’re 32nd in rushing?

14. EAGLES: 4th in scoring surprised me…normally when your opponents have more 1st downs than you it’s because you can’t sustain drives—being +11 in TO’s just means you don’t need as many 1st downs to reach paydirt
15. GIANTS: Perfect example of NFL ignorance; this is the number one defense in the league since they give up the fewest yards but they’re 21st in pts allowed…which stat would you rather lead in?
16. BEARS: Remember how I said Warner’s 4th in INT’s? guess who’s 2nd?
17. JETS: #1 rushing offense, #2 overall defense, #4 in pts against; only bad stats are comp % and TD/INT ratio so maybe Pete Carroll was right
18. DOLPHINS: You could make a case this team goes 9-7 and just misses the playoffs…I’m not making that case but you could
19. PANTHERS: Teams are converting 40% of 3rd downs while CAR is -9 in TO ratio
20. JAGUARS: Losing the sack battle 20-8
21. BILLS: Defense is last in stopping the run and offense is 30th in passing…that means 1st quarter deficits turn to losses
22. SEAHAWKS: 4 of next 5 games are on the road…every stat says they’re bad so you don’t need me to help
23. TITANS: Still can’t get over Jeff Fisher is the coach of one of the worst defense in football
24. 49ERS: Vernon Davis on CHI, “the guys up front, I think we can destroy them/I don’t see anything spectacular about their front line.”
25. RAIDERS: Russell is in 32nd place in QB rating (there are 32 starting QB’s)…won’t win 7 games in one season until Al Davis is dead
26. CHIEFS: LJ gets cut and RG Goff is out for year so does that mean the 24th ranked run game gets worse?
27. REDSKINS: Other than OAK, remaining scheduled teams are 41-16
28. BROWNS: What’s more amazing, the fact they average under 10 pts/game or the fact there’s two teams worse?
29. RAMS: Congratulations on your win, we’ve chosen a prize specifically for you=vNO
30. LIONS: You were up by 17-0 in the second quarter and lost to SEA…oh, and you lost to STL
31. BUCS: I’m out of the knock-out pool because of special teams
32. PACKERS: PHI had to suffer the same penalty…losing to TB gives you a one-week bottom-feeding rank…remember Favre went 12-4 with the same offensive players

In Carson Palmer I trust

Every $19.95 invention grabbed my attention. If I buy now, I can get my offer doubled. However, this offer is not available in stores! From age 5 to 14, almost every time an ad came on TV with an incredible idea, my dad would say, “If the offer is too good to believe, don’t.” Dad, […]

Great does not make Todd Gurley right for the Arizona Cardinals

A completely healthy Todd Gurley will be a great player in the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals should not draft Todd Gurley.
