Arizona State’s loss to Arizona on Saturday handed the Sun Devils their first loss of the season and dropped them one spot to No. 4 in the Associated Press Poll released Monday.
It was a bad week for unbeaten teams as the last three remaining all lost on the same day.
Before the game tipped off in Tucson, then-No. 1 Villanova and then-No. 10 TCU both saw their perfect records vanish, leaving ASU as the only remaining unbeaten team in the country.
Villanova was defeated by Butler 101-93 while TCU suffered a one-point loss at the hands of Big 12 rival Oklahoma, 90-89.
ASU fell into the same boat, falling 84-78 to in-state rival Arizona.
Speaking of Arizona, the Wildcats continue climbing the rankings. Following their win over ASU, Arizona is sitting at No. 14. They have won eight straight since dropping three consecutive games in the Bahamas.
Taking home the top spot was Michigan State, followed by Duke and Villanova.
No. 5 Xavier, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Virginia, Wichita State and Kansas rounded out the top 10.
