Detroit Sack City

The Cardinals played so well in certain areas and so poorly in others, but in the end couldn’t make enough plays to beat the Rams in Bruce Arians’ debut. Although they will be at home this week against the Lions, the struggles of St. Louis and the prowess of Detroit are a combination to be avoided.

The Cardinals struggled to keep Carson Palmer upright. He was sacked four times, knocked to the ground another six times and stripped twice. The Lions, although tactically different, rush the passer very well — just like St. Louis. But unlike the Rams, the Lions’ pass rush strength lies within their interior rushers: Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh.

Paul Fanaika held his own against the Rams’ three techniques and was on an island more times than not. Although he did allow some penetrations and looked overmatched on a couple pass rushes, he continued to battle and played well enough to allow Palmer to throw for over 320 yards.

Lyle Sendlein, Daryn Colledge and Fanaika will be paramount against Detroit. Suh and Fairley will not only work 1-on-1 against Big Red’s interior, but they also are very good at running twists and games.

When it comes to protecting Palmer, no assumption can be made with edge rushers. I know this, the coaches know this and, unfortunately, so does Palmer.

Tiger Woods is the Lord of the Headlines

Tiger Woods is still dominating headlines but the golf world has moved on. In terms of production, this is a man that hasn't been relevant in years but whatever he does cameras, microphones and interest follows him like TMZ on Travolta.

Adrian Peterson’s perdition

There's a ton of subterfuge swirling in and around the Adrian Peterson affair. Rumors and innuendo seem to be the currency used to build arguments as to where Minnesota's talented back is headed. So let me add to the speculation:

The curious case of Chris Borland

Good for Chris Borland. He made an immediate decision through a long-term lens and he seems to be at peace walking away from the game he loves and played so vigorously.

Markieff Morris: Do your job

"Do your job," Bill Belichick said, running his harry hands through his greasy hair. "Nobody is responsible for how you play but you…not your mother, not your aunt Edna…do…your…job."

The threat of Los Angeles is a powerful one for the NFL

The NFL has always been a progressive sports league but what they have done with the L.A. market may be their masterpiece.

LeBron

Recently, LeBron James tweeted something out that clearly referenced Kevin Love. He implored the social media populace to stop trying to "FIT-OUT" and start trying to "FIT-IN."
