Burns: This won’t happen but it makes sense

File this under the heading of Will-Never-Happen-But-I-Like-It-Anyways.
Cut Brian St. Pierre.
The final decisions in the fight for 53 will be made any moment now. Tough decisions loom. Guys who are good football players are going to get called into Coach Ken Whisenhunt’s office, playbook in one hand, cellphone (with his agent on speed dial) in the other.
So here’s my idea: Instead of cutting somebody that enhances your special teams or provides great depth at a position like wide receiver or safety…..cut St. Pierre.
This is nothing against him, though he’s hurt and hasn’t really impressed this preseason. And obviously, Warner’s age provides 38 reasons why you shouldn’t cut him. But think about it; if Kurt Warner gets hurt they have Matt Leinart. If Leinart gets hurt……they’re screwed. No matter what. If both of those guys go down, the season – as we know it – is over.
Put Tyler Palko on the practice squad, install Anquan Boldin as your emergency QB, and presto…..Lance Long remains a Cardinal.
