Coyotes catch fire in first period against Blues, score four goals

To say the Arizona Coyotes came out firing in the first period against the Blues could be seen as a slight understatement.
After all, it took less than two minutes for Coyotes center Zac Rinaldo to give Arizona the 1-0 lead.

The Blues were clearly caught off guard by the early goal. So much so in fact, that fellow Coyotes center Christian Dvorak was able to extend the lead to 2-0 just more than two minutes later.

Just three minutes later Dvorak found the net again to make it 3-0. Keep in mind, it is still the first period.

Now, 13 minutes into the first period, Coyotes left wing Brendan Perlini decided that he wanted to get in on the action.
The final goal of the first period extended the Coyotes’ lead to 4-0.
Arizona dominated the Blues, as they forced a goalie change and recorded 23 shots on goal compared to St. Louis’ seven.
However, the Coyotes did slow down as the game wore on. Christian Fischer added the Coyotes only other goal as they defeated the Blues 5-2.
