With Bobby Hurley visiting, Wolf takes on the ALS Hot Pepper Challenge

Arizona State basketball coach Bobby Hurley already paid the price — a price well worth the cause.
Over the weekend, he found time to take the ALS hot pepper challenge, a viral social media project that’s raising awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
So in honor of Hurley answering the call, Doug & Wolf’s Ron Wolfley decided to take the ALS hot pepper challenge when the ASU coach visited for his weekly interview on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
“I’m fine. I love hot. I love hot, are you kidding me? Bring it on,” said Wolf after taking a big bite of a habanero pepper.
Hurley offered his support.
Like Wolf, Hurley didn’t need milk, crackers or other items to get rid of the spice. Both of them took it straight.
“You just don’t know what to expect,” Hurley said. “I can generally handle some spice, but that’s taking it to a different level. I was sweating a little bit after that. Definitely paid the price later in the day, last night, more than initially when it happened. But it is for a great cause, ALS, and hopefully (we) get more awareness to it.”

The challenge spread following Hurley’s brave acceptance of it.
ASU football coach Herm Edwards answered the call by taking the challenge on Wednesday.

The latest ALS challenge follows in the footsteps of the ice bucket challenge and received a boost in attention thanks to former ESPN scribe Tom Haberstroh, whose own hot pepper eating kicked the spicier version of raising ALS awareness into high gear.
Among other sports celebrities to take the hot pepper challenge were former Suns Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal, who did it live during their Inside the NBA show on TNT last week.
