ASU point guard Jahii Carson tweets about his own greatness

Back in February, Arizona State point guard Jahii Carson’s name ended up in the headlines not only for his outstanding play, but also because his mother vented some frustration on Twitter.

Wednesday, Carson himself made some waves when he took to Twitter to speak highly of…himself.

Of course, Carson’s tweets elicited quite a response, with some tweeting admiration for the co-Pac-12 Freshman of the Year who averaged 18.5 points and 5.1 assists per game for the Sun Devils last season. Then again, others are sending messages questioning his motives and theory.

Some people even responded in a polite way, and Carson seemed genuinely interested in meeting people who are more successful than he is.

Then there was this tweet, which brought up one of Carson’s ASU brethren, albeit in a different sport.

And of course, the obligatory response from an Arizona fan.

What does all this mean? Perhaps nothing more than the fact that Carson is bored, as is likely the case for college athletes across the nation. That would be the best option, anyway.

Because while Carson had an excellent freshman season in Tempe and is one of the bright young stars in the college game, cockiness is rarely a good look.
