Ron Burgundy’s ESPN appearance canceled

Dec 5, 2013, 1:38 AM | Updated: 1:38 am

Ron Burgundy was supposed to tackle the world of sports journalism by co-hosting ESPN’s “SportsCenter” on Thursday at 6 p.m., but plans have changed.

ESPN announced Wednesday that the special appearance was called off.

The network teased the upcoming episode by releasing an interview between Burgundy (played by Will Ferrell) and Denver Broncos’ quarterback Peyton Manning.

Despite Manning Manning having accolades coming out his jersey, the discussion mainly focused on facial hair.

Burgundy’s canceled ESPN gig comes two weeks before the release of the “Anchorman” sequel, which arrives in theaters Dec. 20.
