When Phoenix Suns guard Troy Daniels made a three-point shot with 9:15 to go in the first quarter Monday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, NBA history was made.

Daniels’ triple allowed the Suns to break the league mark for most consecutive games with at least one three-point basket. It was one of few highlights in a 120-109 loss at FedEx Forum.

To find the last time the Suns went through a whole game without making a three-pointer, you’d have to go all the way back to March 27, 2004.

In an ugly 105-76 road loss to the San Antonio Spurs, the Suns went 0-for-5 from behind the arc. Joe Johnson went 0-for-3 from deep, while Casey Jacobsen and Shawn Marion each missed their only attempt. Since then, at least once per game, radio listeners have heard the legendary Al McCoy give his signature “Shazam!” call at least once.

Since the three-point shot was adopted by the NBA in time for the 1979-80 season, the Suns have hit 15,424 of them — fourth-most in the NBA behind only the Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks.
