Intentional walk attempt goes awry, leads to walk-off home run

Auburn Tigers reliever Jay Wade needs a hug.
A big one.
In the 13th inning of a 5-5 game Friday night, Wade attempted to intentionally walk Ole Miss Rebels third baseman Austin Anderson to create a force at first, second or third, as two men were already on base.
Instead, Wade forgot the golden rule of intentional walk attempts: Throw the pitch away from the plate.
The first pitch of the at-bat was essentially tossed at a batting practice speed over the heart of the plate, and Anderson didn’t miss it.
The senior sent the offering well over the right centerfield wall for a walk-off three run shot.
Ole Miss committed five errors on the night, but luckily for the Rebels they took full advantage of the one gaffe that went their way.
