Arizona Wildcats billboard shows off Super Bowl-bound alumni

Four players, all drawn together with Arizona Wildcat blood, will be fighting for the same goal this Super Bowl Sunday.

Except, they will be competing against each other for that Lombardi trophy.

A recent University of Arizona billboard, which is popping up around Minneapolis and Phoenix, has highlighted that accomplishment.

The former Wildcats for the Philadelphia Eagles are quarterback Nick Foles and special teams coach Dave Fipp.

Foles is Arizona’s all-time passing leader and he will be the first Arizona quarterback to ever start in a Super Bowl.

Fipp walked on to the team in 1994. One season later, he led the special teams unit in tackles. After that, Fipp earned a scholarship and the starting position at free safety for his final two years.

For the New England Patriots, they have tight end Rob Gronkowski and linebacker Marquis Flowers.

Gronkowski came to Arizona in 2007 and eventually led the Wildcats to the team’s first bowl appearance in a decade in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Flowers is the most recent Wildcat to go pro in this group of Super Bowl contenders. Over the course of his four year college career, he had 272 total tackles while doing his part to help the team win two bowl games.

With these four former Wildcats being split among the two Super Bowl teams, there might be quite a few in-school rivalries among Arizona fans during the big game.
