Will Ferrell crashes a Team USA fan event in Brazil

Jun 26, 2014, 8:21 PM | Updated: 8:21 pm

The U.S. Soccer Federation hosted a pre-match event in Recife, Brazil, on Wednesday to get fans hyped for Thursday’s match against Germany.

The president for the federation, Sunil Gulati, presented a special guest, “Teddy Goalsevelt,” followed by an even better guest: Will Ferrell.

That’s right, Ron Burgundy himself took the trip to Brazil to party with USA fans, which were thrilled to see him.

Ferrell, perhaps channeling his “Kicking & Screaming” character, promised fans that they would be able to catch him at the match against Germany, adding that he’d be the fan in the “red, white and blue bikini top.”

He also promised to bite any and all German players if needed. It was a reference, of course, to Uruguayan player Luis Suarez’s recent biting incident.

Having the good luck charm of Ferrell wasn’t quite enough, as Team USA lost the match 1-0. Despite the loss, the Americans were able to advance to the next round.
